To make sure my documentary was balanced and fair I wanted to speak to someone who knows how to use the technology that creates deepfakes and ask them about some of the positive sides of the technology.
I expected Dr Hammadi to defend the technology to me and tell me multiple ways in which it can/should be used. However to my surprise, Dr Hammadi actually told me that he doesn't see many benefits to the technology outside of the entertainment industry and that he has concerns for other ways the technology could be used in the future by criminals.
He also told me about new technology that is being created in deepfake detection that is being developed at the moment that could help stop the spread of deepfakes in the future.
"If you take away the entertainment I don't see any positive of it."
